============== Maestro Programmer ============== The Maestro programmer utility allows future software upgrades to be installed and allows backup and restoration of the units settings via the RS232 port on the back of the Maestro. The following equipment will be required: * IBM PC compatible computer running Windows 98 or later * Software - AudioContro Maestro Programmer utility (included on the Maestro CD-ROM) * Lead - RS232 9-way female D type to 9-way female D type (null modem) Installation procedure ---------------------- The Maestro Programmer utility needs to be installed on your PC before you can use it: * Close down any programs which are running, then insert the CD-ROM into the CD drive. * Using Explorer to install, click on Utilities, then Maestro Programmer, then double click Setup. The install process will then begin. You will be prompted for your Name, Organization and Destination Folder for the installation (default is C:\Program Files\AudioContro\Maestro Programmer\). Follow the instructions on-screen. Software Program Module. (Software updates) ------------------------------------------- * Open the Maestro Programmer utility by double clicking the desktop icon, or from the Programs list within the Start menu. * Select 'Open the Programming Module'. * Switch off all the power amps connected to the Maestro. * Switch off the Maestro. * Connect the RS232 lead from the PC to the RS232 control port on the Maestro. * From within the Maestro Programmer software: * Select the new software file to be uploaded using the 'Select File' button. * Select the Com port you are using with the ‘Select Com Port’ button. * Put the Maestro into program mode: * Press and hold the program button on the back of the Maestro (located with the video output connections). * Turn the Maestro on with the program button still pressed. * Wait 6 seconds and then release the program button. The display will remain completely blank and no LEDs will light. * From within the Maestro Programmer software: * Click ‘Start Programming’. * If the message sofware does not connect repeat the process from 'Put the Maestro into program mode'. The PC will now upload the software and display the following information: Connecting: 0 to 100% Programming: 0 to 100% Verifying: 0 to 100% This process will take up to four minutes. When the software has been uploaded the message ‘Successfully Downloaded code’ will be displayed. * Turn the Maestro off and unplug the RS232 lead. * Wait 10 seconds before turning the Maestro back on. If, after programming the Maestro the unit displays 'Populating EEPROM' when first turned on, it will be necessary to reset the user configurations within the unit. This is dependent on the degree of the software changes and will not always be necessary. ================================== Maestro Preset Upload/Download Utility ================================== To run the Maestro Preset Upload Download Utility: ---------------------------------------------- * Open the Maestro Programmer utility by double clicking the desktop icon, or from the Programs list within the Start menu. * Select 'Open the Upload / Download Module'. * Connect the RS232 lead from the PC to the RS232 control connector on the Maestro. * Switch off all the power amps connected to the Maestro. * Switch on Maestro * Select the Com port you are using (if not the default of COM1) with the ‘Change Com Port’ Button. To download the settings from the Maestro to the PC: ------------------------------------------------ * Create a new backup file: * Select the Create New File Button. * Enter a name for the file in the ‘File name’ box (e.g. Maestro.epr). Note the ‘.epr’ name extension. * Click ‘Save’. * Download the Maestro settings: * Click ‘Read Presets FROM Maestro'. The Maestro Preset Upload / Download utility will then download the configuration from the AV8 and save it using the filename you gave. Once the setup is read from the Maestro it is automatically stored as a 'working file'. To upload a configuration to the Maestro from the PC: ------------------------------------------------- * Locate the backup file you wish to upload: * Select ‘Select Existing File’. * Locate the folder where the backup file is saved or locate the Factory Preset in the Maestro Software folder * Select the name of the ‘.epr’ file you wish to upload. * Click ‘Open’ * Upload the Maestro settings: * Click ‘Write Presets INTO Maestro’. The Maestro automatically resets after the configuration has been uploaded.
